The radiant loose diamond shape was invented by Henry Grossbard in 1977. Until then, rectangular loose diamonds tended to lack brilliance, since the flat and parallel surfaces did little to reflect light. He employed several step cutting techniques, which also highlighted a loose diamond's color. In fact, fancy colored loose diamonds often take the radiant shape.
Ben Affleck gave Jennifer Lopez a 6-carat radiant shaped pink loose diamond, valued at over $1.2 million. It was set in platinum, with 3 white baguette diamonds. This stunning engagement ring is one of the most replicated celebrity engagement rings.
